Founded in 1868, Oregon State is the state’s Land Grant university and is one of only two universities in the U.S. to have Sea Grant, Space Grant and Sun Grant designations. Oregon State is also the only university in Oregon to hold both the Carnegie Foundation's top designation for research institutions and its prestigious Community Engagement classification.
WRI supports OSU Fisheries professor Stan Gregory and his research team to collect data on Willamette River fish communities, cold-water habitats and floodplain function. This data will be used to populate the "Slices," a GIS-based information framework that captures data on five parameters along 100-meter sections of the mainstem Willamette. Developing and expanding the Slices framework is a collaborative project between OSU and the University of Oregon.
